Garlic Shishitos

Looking for a quick, flavorful snack or appetizer? These Garlic Shishitos are a perfect choice. Shishito peppers are blistered in a hot skillet, then tossed in savory garlic and a touch of sesame oil for a bold, irresistible flavor. With their mild heat and crispy texture, they’re a fun and unique treat that will disappear in no time.

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb shishito peppers (fresh)
  • 2 Tbsp olive oil (or sesame oil for extra flavor)
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 Tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tsp sesame seeds (optional)
  • 1 tsp red pepper flakes (optional, for extra heat)
  • Salt to taste
  • Freshly ground black pepper to taste
  • 1 Tbsp lemon juice (optional, for a fresh zing)
  • Instructions:

    1. Wash shishito peppers thoroughly and dry with a paper towel. Make sure they are completely dry, as this will help them blister better in the pan.
    2. Heat oil in skillet over medium-high heat until shimmering.
    3. Add peppers in single layer, cook 3-5 minutes until blistered. Toss, cook 2-3 minutes more.
    4. Reduce heat to medium-low, add garlic. Stir constantly for 1 minute.
    5. Drizzle soy sauce, add salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes (optional). Toss for 1 minute.
    6. Transfer to plate, garnish with sesame seeds, lemon juice, and sea salt. Serve hot.

    Pro-tip:

Shishito peppers are usually mild, but occasionally, you’ll get one with an extra kick. Keep that in mind for an extra fun twist when sharing with friends.
