Sizzlin' Serrano Verde


A zesty, fiery salsa with a bright, bold flavor, Sizzlin’ Serrano Verde is the perfect addition to tacos, grilled meats, or just a bowl of tortilla chips. This salsa highlights the tangy freshness of tomatillos, balanced with the vibrant heat of serrano peppers. It's fresh, fiery, and full of flavor—a crowd-pleaser for spice lovers.

Ingredients:

  • 10 medium tomatillos, husked and rinsed
  • 4-6 serrano peppers (adjust to heat preference)
  • 1 small onion, quartered
  • 2 cloves garlic, peeled
  • 1/2 c. fresh cilantro
  • 1 Tbsp lime juice (about 1 lime)
  • 1/2 tsp salt (or to taste)
  • 1/4 tsp ground black pepper

Instructions:

  1. Roast tomatillos, serrano peppers, onion, and garlic in a dry skillet over medium heat, turning occasionally (8-10 mins).
  2. Cool slightly.
  3. Blend roasted veggies, cilantro, lime juice, salt, and pepper until smooth or chunky, depending on your preference.
  4. Adjust seasoning. Add more serrano pepper for heat, or more lime juice to balance.
  5. Transfer to bowl, serve with chips, tacos, grilled meats, or quesadillas.
  6. Optional: Add chipotle pepper in adobo sauce when blending for a smoky flavor.
